Indeed Announces Appointment of Ken Asano as General Manager of Indeed Japan
Austin, TX (February 12, 2025) – Indeed, the world’s #1 job siteComscore, Total Visits, March 2024 and a leading job matching and hiring platform, announced today the appointment of Ken Asano as General Manager of Indeed Japan, effective April 1, 2025. Asano will join Indeed’s senior leadership team and report directly to CEO Chris Hyams.
Asano will oversee not only Indeed Japan, but additionally two newly formed Japan-centered subsidiaries that are part of Indeed’s parent company, Recruit Holdings. This appointment follows the announcement that starting April 1, 2025, Recruit Holdings is updating its corporate governance structure to consolidate its HR Solutions business from its Matching & Solutions SBU (Strategic Business Unit) to within its HR Technology SBU.
As part of this transition, the HR Solutions business within the Matching & Solutions SBU has been reorganized into two separate entities—Indeed Recruit Partners Co., Ltd. and Indeed Recruit Technologies Co., Ltd.—which will now operate under the HR Technology SBU alongside Indeed.
HR Solutions in Matching & Solutions SBU, operates leading job boards in Japan, offering full-time and part-time job postings, including Rikunabi, Rikunabi NEXT, TOWN WORK, From A Navi, Hatalike, and Travail. Indeed has already been working closely with the HR Solutions business on Indeed PLUS, an integrated job distribution platform that launched in January 2024. Indeed PLUS connects multiple job sites and application tracking systems (ATSs)–including those from HR Solutions–to make it easier for job seekers to find open roles and for employers to post jobs in Japan.
Asano joined Recruit in 1992, and has served as Executive Vice President of Product for the Matching & Solutions SBU since 2022. He previously led both Recruit Sumai Company, which operates the real estate online portal SUUMO, and Recruit Lifestyle, with dining, beauty and travel booking platforms, as Representative Director and President. His extensive experience spans both Marketing and HR Solutions in Matching & Solutions SBU, including leading product development and serving as editor-in-chief of Recruit’s HR publications.

Hiroyuki Oyagi, currently General Manager, will be taking on the title of Senior Vice President of Online Platform Business at IRP as well as Vice President of Online Platform Business at Indeed Japan. Oyagi first took on the role of General Manager in 2020, and oversaw the launch of Indeed PLUS. Oyagi will report into Asano starting April 1, 2025.
