Manufacturing Tech – High-Speed Stamping Set-up positions serve a key role in Federal’s ability to satisfy the needs of our customers, including our cosmetic industry customers. Flexibility, productivity, and attention to detail are hallmarks of this position. Company Associates are expected to approach their work with pride of workmanship, integrity, and a highly productive work ethic.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Primary technician responsible for set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of Federal’s High-Speed Stamping Press equipment for their assigned shift

2. Additional assignments may include punch press, laser, turret, brake press operation, secondary and robotic welding, tapping, CNC mill, assembly, and other work the production lead sees as appropriate

3. Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications

4. Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, and ring gauges

5. Start up and shut down processing equipment

6. Collect hazardous or non-hazardous waste in correctly labeled barrels or other containers and transfer them to collection areas

7. Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors

8. Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance

9. Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity

10. Clean production equipment and work areas; Select cleaning materials, tools, and equipment

11. Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products

12. Prepare and assemble materials

13. Provide advice or training to other technicians; primary trainer on Federal’s High Speed Stamping Presses for their assigned shift

14. Assist Engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes and new products, processes, or procedures

15. Set up and verify functionality of safety equipment on machines

16. Measure and record data associated with operating equipment

17. Test products or subassemblies for functionality or quality

Qualifications and/or Skills required

· Strong Mechanical Aptitude and Spatial Relations

· Proficient in the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of High-Speed Stamping Press equipment

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task is crucial

· Manufacturing and ISO 9001:2015 experience, preferred

· High School Diploma or Equivalent

· Knowledge and ability in blueprint reading and metrology

· Math, reading, and language skills able to effectively utilize company information systems

Physical Demands

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

During the performance of his/her work duties, the incumbent will regularly lift up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds, such as removing materials from shipping containers.

The employee works in a manufacturing environment and is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and work in high places. He/she is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is loud.

Federal Tool & Engineering is an alcohol and drug free workplace. All temporary and permanent new hires are subject to both physical and drug testing. Typical work hours may vary and the potential for overtime is possible and may be mandatory. Due to production requirements you may be required to work flexible hours or work on a different shift. Additionally, work requirements will vary and you must be prepared to perform a variety of tasks as needed to service the needs of our customers.
