JOB TITLE: Flight Base Supervisor (Paramedic or RN)
DEPARTMENT: First Flight of Wyoming
REPORTS TO: EMS Director

JOB SUMMARY
The Flight Base Supervisor provides operational management of the First Flight of Wyoming air medical program, which includes remote base of operations and covers a multi-state region. The scope of responsibilities includes strategic planning, business development, community relations, regulatory and aviation compliance, assuring excellent patient care, and meeting safety standards. The Base Supervisor is charged with the operational integration of clinical care, aviation, and dispatch/communications functions.
To provide optimum critical/emergency care for sick or injured patients transported by aircraft or other vehicle to and from medical facilities in the region.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Currently licensed as a Wyoming EMT-Paramedic and National Registry Paramedic or Wyoming State Registered Nurse.
• Ability to successfully perform all duties within applicant scope inside confined spaces with no limitations.
• Ability to successfully pass physical agility and endurance assessment with no limitations upon hire, and annually as needed.
• Must maintain weight to fit into the seat belts/shoulder harness as provided by the aircraft manufacture without modification to those safety devices.
• Crew weight restriction is 225 pounds fully dressed at time of hire and must always maintain within this requirement.

EXPERIENCE
Required: Minimum of 3 years ALS, critical care experience as a flight/ground transport paramedic/nurse. Demonstrated leadership or charge role capabilities

• Experience in understanding usage of computers and ability to learn new programs relevant to the position.
• Altitude Physiology.
• EMS communications (Radios) and familiarization with EMS systems.
• Familiarity with extrication devices and rescue operations.
• General aircraft safety.
• Hazardous materials recognition and response.
• Highway scene safety management.
• Survival training/techniques/equipment that is pertinent to the environment/geographic coverage area of the medical service.
• Human Factors – Crew Resource Management – AMRM (Air Medical Resource Management).
• Stress recognition and management/resilience.
• Recognize signs of fatigue.
• Safety and risk management training.
• Knowledge of agents, equipment, procedures, and techniques for the provision of emergency and critical care for inter – facility and scene transports.
• Ability to withstand exposure to noise, external weather conditions, and work in high altitudes.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Required:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) – within 12 months of hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – within 12 months of hire
• FEMA 100/200/700/800 – within 6 months of hire
• Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C) if paramedic - within 24 months of hire
• Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) if nurse – within 24 months of hire
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) if nurse – within 12 months of hire
• Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE) – within 36 months of hire
• Current clean Wyoming driver’s license

Preferred:

• Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS)
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) audit or Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC)
