SR Hardware Engineer - Board Design (7+ years experience)
Job description:

VOCAL Technologies Inc. is actively seeking a SR Hardware Engineer to join our growing team supporting Telecommunications and Embedded Systems development. This person will be a key member of the hardware development team working with software and algorithm development teams. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills along with the efficient problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and design electronic digital circuitry for industrial commercial, aerospace and defense market sectors.
  • Designing and developing complex circuits involving embedded DSP and processors for real-time telecommunications applications.
  • Collaborate with EMS/PCBA suppliers to ensure designs meet their guidelines and capabilities and achieve performance, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Create Schematics.
  • Generate fabrication and assembly documentation to facilitate PCB manufacturing.
  • Perform design reviews, simulations, and validation to ensure functionality and reliability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with PCB layout and design.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Masters in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong electrical design and analysis skills. Understanding of electrical systems and subsystem interfaces to overall system design are required for this role.
  • 7+ years of experience in electronic circuit design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
  • Strong understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.
  • Experience in inter-processor communication, GPIO configurations, interrupt handling, I2C, SPI, I2C, DMAs, etc.
  • Experience with RTOS, embedded firmware, drivers, and interfaces
  • Knowledge of C programming language.
  • Theoretical knowledge of the EM principles and digital signal processing
  • Proficiency in electronics design (EDA) tools
  • Demonstrate creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, strong collaborative skills, strong written and verbal communication.
