Full job description

Overview

We are looking for a Frontend Engineer with strong experience in React and PixiJS to build high-performance, real-time browser-based games. This role focuses on rendering, animation pipelines, and interactive gameplay systems that operate under high concurrency and strict latency constraints.

You will work closely with backend, game logic, and data platform teams to deliver smooth, responsive, and scalable gaming experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain browser-based games using React and PixiJS
  • Implement real-time rendering systems, animations, and visual effects
  • Integrate frontend with backend services (WebSocket / Socket.IO / REST)
  • Optimize rendering performance (FPS, memory usage, asset loading)
  • Build reusable UI/game components and rendering abstractions
  • Handle game state synchronization between client and server
  • Collaborate with designers and backend engineers on gameplay features
  • Debug and resolve performance bottlenecks in production environments

Requirements

Core Skills

  • 3+ years (Mid) / 5+ years (Senior) frontend development experience
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Solid experience with React (hooks, state management, performance tuning)
  • Hands-on experience with PixiJS or similar rendering engines (Canvas/WebGL)
  • Experience building interactive or real-time applications (games preferred)
  • Understanding of rendering pipelines, animation loops, and frame optimization
  • Fluent in Chinese Mandarin

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with WebSocket / Socket.IO real-time communication
  • Familiarity with game loops, tick systems, and client-side prediction
  • Experience with asset pipelines (spritesheets, atlases, texture optimization)
  • Knowledge of performance profiling tools (Chrome DevTools, memory/CPU profiling)
  • Experience with Unity WebGL integration or hybrid game architectures
  • Familiarity with protobuf / binary protocols for efficient data transfer

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Unity (game development or tooling)
  • Experience integrating or working with Unity WebGL builds
  • Experience with C++ / game engine internals
  • Experience building casino-style or real-time multiplayer games
  • Knowledge of graphics concepts (shaders, blending modes, particle systems)
  • Experience with CI/CD, Docker, or cloud deployment
