Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of advanced electronic products with a strong emphasis on PCB/PCBA design, schematic capture, SMT-based hardware development, and low-voltage DC power systems.
This role is highly hands-on and ideal for an engineer with strong experience designing and debugging production-ready electronic assemblies used in demanding applications. The position will support the development of battery-powered products and charging systems, including circuitry related to battery management systems (BMS), fuel gauging, power conversion, protection circuitry, and embedded hardware interfaces.
The ideal candidate combines strong board-level hardware design experience with practical knowledge of power electronics, analog/digital circuitry, manufacturability, and regulatory-driven product development.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Hardware Development
· Design and develop PCBAs, schematics, and electrical circuits for new electronic products and battery-powered systems.
· Create and maintain detailed schematics, BOMs, stack-ups, and supporting design documentation.
· Support or perform PCB layout reviews with focus on signal integrity, manufacturability, thermal considerations, and EMI/EMC best practices.
· Design and debug low-voltage DC circuits, power distribution systems, analog/digital interfaces, and embedded support circuitry.
· Develop circuitry supporting:
o Battery management systems (BMS)
o TI fuel gauge ICs
o Cell monitoring and balancing
o Protection and safety circuits
o Charging and power conversion systems
Prototype & Production Support
· Support prototype assembly, SMT builds, bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
· Perform bench-level debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and other lab instrumentation.
· Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to resolve design, assembly, and production issues.
· Define and support production test requirements and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
· Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions for field or production failures.
Product Development & Cross-Functional Support
· Participate in all phases of product development from concept through production release.
· Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, test, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure successful product execution.
· Lead or participate in design reviews, technical reviews, and risk assessments.
· Support sustaining engineering activities for products currently in production.
Regulatory & Design Assurance
· Support product development activities in accordance with applicable design control and quality system requirements.
· Contribute to engineering documentation required for:
o Design verification and validation (V&V)
o Traceability
o Risk analysis
o Change control
o Regulatory submissions and compliance activities
· Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable standards and certifications such as:
o ISO 13485
o UL / IEC electrical safety standards
o UN transportation requirements where applicable
· Participate in engineering change processes and documentation reviews to support controlled product development practices.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related discipline.
Experience
· 5–10+ years of experience in electrical hardware or electronic product design.
· Strong experience with:
o Schematic capture
o PCB/PCBA development
o SMT electronic assemblies
o Low-voltage DC circuit design
o Prototype debugging and validation
· Experience with battery-powered products or power electronics strongly preferred.
· Familiarity with:
o TI fuel gauge ICs
o Battery management systems (BMS)
o Lithium-ion battery protection circuitry
o Chargers and DC power systems
· Experience supporting products from development through manufacturing release.
Technical Skills
· Schematic capture and PCB design tools.
· Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.
· Familiarity with PCB layout constraints and manufacturing considerations.
· Knowledge of DFM, DFA, and production test methodologies.
· Experience using standard electrical lab equipment for debug and validation.
Professional Skills
· Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary engineering environment.
· Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
Physical Requirements
· Occasional lifting of light to moderately weighted materials.
· Ability to perform bench-level electronic debugging and prototype work.
· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing engineering tasks.
Work Environment
· Work performed primarily in an engineering R&D and product development environment.
· Combination of workstation design activities and hands-on laboratory/product support work.
· Occasional travel to suppliers or customer locations may be required.
Additional Responsibilities
Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned in support of engineering and product development objectives.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
